It is being reported that Chelsea are hoping to tie up a deal for Bayern midfielder Bastian Schwienstiger to helped his club to a league and cup double this past season.
Blues boss Carlo Ancelotti wants Schweinsteiger, nicknamed “Piggy” because his surname translates into English as “pig breeder”, to replace 33-year-old compatriot Michael Ballack.
Questioned about Chelsea’s interest, Schweinsteiger said: “Right now I’m focusing solely on the World Cup. All the rest doesn’t interest me.”
But after winning five titles with Bayern, he is tempted by a move to Stamford BridgeAs Chelsea release Michael Ballack and Joe Cole it appears the west London are looking to bring in midfield reinforcements and a move for Bayern Munich attacking midfielder Bastian Schweinsteiger could well be a wise one, the question though remains, will the German international feel that now is the right time to leave the Bundesliga champions?
Louis Van Gaal has got the Bavarian side purring and helped take them to the Champions League final and with Arjen Robben on board and Franck Ribery committed to the club perhaps the one club man will consider sticking around at the Allianz Arena a little longer?
Some might think that after amassing over 300 appearances at the club and having won all there is domestically that Schweinsteiger would be happy to leave but that may not be as clear cut as it seems even though a move to the Premier League champions may be too tempting to turn down.
